South Africa’s Miss Universe, Bryoni Govender, has been flying the nation’s flag high in El Salvador, where the preliminary competition of the 72nd Miss Universe has come to a close, with the grand finale set to take place on 19 November at 03:00 on S3 (DStv 193).
Bryoni has made SA proud in her stint representing the nation at the 72nd Miss Universe pageant in San Salvador.
On Thursday, Govender bagged her spot amongst the Top 10 silver finalists in the pageant’s Voice For Change movement, which aims to showcase the causes advocated for by Miss Universe contestants.
As per reports by News24, Govender advocated for Her Way Out, a campaign that aims to educate women about their legal rights. She also teamed up with Social Impact, a global law firm to access local justice projects. Beyond that, she was also appointed as an ambassador for public benefit organisation, Lawyers against Abuse (LvA).
These worthy causes earned Bryoni a shining silver medal, and the chance to win gold at the finale on Saturday. Three of the 10 Voice For Change finalists will be crowned as gold winners at the finals of the pageant on Saturday, with each gold winner receiving a prize of R218 000.
Taking to her Instagram stories with a silver medal in tow, Govender wrote:
“Incredibly honoured to have this recognition. This is a win for South Africa.”
Govender also stunned at the Miss Universe preliminaries on Wednesday earlier this week, looking radiant in both the evening gown and swimsuit competition. She wore gold, from head to toe:

For her evening gown look, Govender served in a spectacular gown by South African designer William de Beer of Willet Designs Couture. In an Instagram post revealing the inspiration behind Bryoni’s dress, the Miss South Africa organisation wrote:
“Inspired by the rich mineral landscape of South Africa and drawing inspiration from @bryoni.govender’s Indian heritage, this masterpiece created by @willetdesignscouture blends both seamlessly! 👗”

Bryoni is now gearing up for the 72nd Miss Universe grand finale, which will air live on 19 November on S3 (DStv 193) at 03:00 AM and again at 19:30 PM.
Help Bryoni claim the crown by voting online via the official Miss Universe app (on Android or Iphone).
The contestant with the most votes gets an automatic placement in the semi-finals.
