From Sex and the City to And Just Like That…
When the original Sex and the City (SATC) concluded in 2004, fans were left with a void in their hearts they couldn’t fill, until And Just Like That was released in 2021.
When Kim Cattrall decided not to return for the revival show, And Just Like That (AJLT) the famous four turned into a trio, and the show was a massive hit, but left fans feeling incomplete, as if something was missing…it was Sam
Samantha Jones was an integral part of the SATC universe and fans were sad to see her not return. Her unique and unapologetic approach to love, sex, and life in New York City captured the hearts of millions, making her one of TV’s most memorable characters.
Now with her reprise, we’ll finally get to see the whole gang in action again.
Samantha, then and now
In the new season of And Just Like That, fans can expect to explore Samantha’s character in a new light.
Over the years, Samantha has faced her fair share of challenges and triumphs, and her return will offer an opportunity to delve into her personal growth since her last appearance in SATC in 2004.
Our best guest is that the show will examines how Samantha navigates life and relationships in her 60s, addressing ageism, sexuality, and the complexities of maintaining friendships as they get older.
Reuniting the iconic foursome
The chemistry between the four main characters—Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Samantha has always been a force to be reckoned with. Their unique dynamics and enduring friendship were the focal point throughout the series and filtered seamlessly into the movies.

Kim Cattrall’s decision to return to AJLT demonstrates the power of reconciliation and growth.
While there may have been underlying tensions between herself and co-star Sarah Jessica Parker in a dispute to not partake in the third instalment of SATC movie that led to her initial departure, her return indicates a willingness to put the past behind, and collaborate with her former co-stars once again.
Cattrall told Variety last year that she wasn’t interested in revisiting the role. Parker also told THR’s Awards Chatter podcast that the AJLT team didn’t reach out to Cattrall because she had been so clear about moving on.
They said:
“We did not ask her to be part of this because she made it clear that that wasn’t something she wanted to pursue, and it no longer felt comfortable for us, and so it didn’t occur to us,”
Parker said.
“That’s not ‘slamming’ her, it’s just learning. You’ve got to listen to somebody, and if they’re publicly talking about something and it doesn’t suggest it’s someplace they want to be, or a person they want to play, or an environment in which they want to be, you get to an age where you’re like, ‘Well, we hear that.’”
With Cattrall back in the fold, we can expect the magic and camaraderie between the ladies to reignite, giving fans a chance to witness the iconic foursome together once again. The witty banter, the unconditional support, and the countless adventures that await them will undoubtedly be a treat for longtime viewers.
Kim Cattrall’s return to AJLT season 2 is an occasion worth celebrating for fans worldwide. Samantha Jones has solidified her spot as an iconic character whose presence was missed. Her revival appearance will undoubtedly add a spark of excitement and nostalgia. Are you ready to binge the whole show in one sitting?
