South Africa’s ‘Klein Kwagga’ who found overnight fame after busting a move at his little sister’s dancing concert, has appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show for the viral video of his grooves to Bernice West’s local hit, Lyfie.
Eight-year-old Klein Kwagga – Dirkco Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen – became a viral star overnight after a video of the young boy dancing on stage at his sister’s concert took over the internet in 2023.

Dirkco and his grooves became such a hit that singer Bernice West tracked the boy down to share a dance to her hit.
🩳 @boerboelwear 👟@fombrand #KleinKwagga #lyfie #doenitlyfiedoenit #dieHerehetmymooigemaak #boerboel #boerboelwear #boere ♬ Lyfie – Bernice West
Klein Kwagga’s spark continues to reach even the furthest corners of the world today.
American singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson tacked onto the viral video of SA’s dancing star, and invited the young man and his mum, Mercia, onto the show for an interview on Clarkson’s ‘What I’m Liking‘ segment:

Introducing the boy to her (mostly American) audience via video call, Clarkson said:
“There’s something to be said for those who dance the hardest, knowing pretty much everyone is watching.”
“Kwagga you have no idea how much joy you have brought me. You would be best friends with my son, I swear.”
When Mercia, Dirkco’s mom, was asked how the viral moment first unfolded, she said that it’s always how they’ve known the little boy to be, but he did have a few moves hidden up his sleeve that even his parents were surprised to see.
“It was really fun, but that’s how we know little Kwagga. But yes, there were a few moves that we didn’t know of that came out!”
Concluding her chat with the family, Clarkson encouraged the viral star to keep his little spark going by dancing:
“You are my favourite What I’m Liking I’ve had on the show, you are so great. I love you, keep dancing!”
