56-year-old actress Lisa Bonet has officially filed for divorce from 44-year-old Aquaman star, Jason Momoa.
The couple, who first separated in October 2020 due to “irreconcilable differences” have taken the next step towards finalising their split, with Lisa Bonet officially filing for a divorce, according to documents obtained by UsWeekly.
The pair, who share two children – Lola, 16, and Nakoa-Wolf, 15 – released a statement in January 2022, revealing that they would be parting ways in the marriage, adding that they did not think their split was newsworthy, but rather that they wanted to be upfront with fans.
The statement released by Lisa and Jason reads:
“We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy – But so that – as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.”
The amicable split materialised after the pair had “grown apart romantically” amid the Covid-19 pandemic that swept the world. The statement further read:
“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding – and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so – We share our Family news – That we are parting ways in marriage.”
Despite deciding to part ways, the pair say that they still share love for each other, and wish to set each other free.
“The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other – to be who we are learning to become…”
The couple’s commitment to raising their children together is unwavering. Their statement concludes:
“Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life our Children. Teaching our Children What’s possible – Living the Prayer May Love Prevail”
