MasterChef is jumping from M-Net to SABC 3 for a 5th season starting in June, where the foodie cook-off show will court a wider free-to-air audience after a run on pay TV.
Primedia Studios has secured the rights for the upcoming 5th season of MasterChef South Africa, a series represented internationally by the media and entertainment giant Banijay.
The production helm for the new season will be taken over by Cape Town-based Homebrew Films, continuing from their successful management of the fourth season last year.
Pick n Pay is set to return as the headline sponsor for the upcoming season. The victorious contestant in this 5th season of the amateur chef competition will be awarded a substantial prize of R1 million.
Filming for the anticipated 5th season of MasterChef SA is expected to commence around February or March, with the broadcast scheduled on SABC 3 around June. Details about the judging panel will be announced in due course.
