The Real Housewives of Cape Town’s Reunion saw the ladies who dominated our screens sit down decked out in designer dresses, and eager to spill the tea on what went down this season.
Hosted by television presenter Vusi Twala, the reunion gave the audience the chance to hear the ladies’ sides of some arguments that had carried on since the final episode was filmed months ago.
Thato Montse for one was particularly singled on as she had much to say about some of the ladies all season long.
Fans, however made their voices heard on social media by saying, “Thato Monste is authentic, real and carried season 1” before adding “..she may not know how to effectively stand up for herself hence resort to insults and vulgar [comments]”.
A lot was said about her use of language on screen by the other ladies, but viewers think it was because of the language barrier and her not always knowing how to express herself – hence resorting to insults.
Viewers are also calling out racism on the show.
One Twitter user wrote, “Thanks to Thato for calling out Camilla’s racism right to her face. She didn’t even deny it which is all we need to know.”
Whether or not these were gimmicks to make for entertaining television or whether these arguments and disputes are real, users aren’t sure.
Another topic that came up was Cammila McDowell undermining Monste her co-star, claiming that she is not a real winemaker.
She allegedly claimed that Monste purchases her wine and has labels printed on it. A Twitter user wrote “Camilla undermines Thato’s qualifications yet again. Get this grandma off my screen please.”
All in all the reunion had many moments that got extremely personal on situations that might have not been part of this season on screen, which leaves the question of whether it makes it right or wrong to bring it up at all.
The ladies definitely shared a large part of their lives with the viewers and expecting them to share absolutely everything is probably too much to ask… or does it simply come with signing the ‘reality tv’ contract?
We are waiting in anticipation on what season 2 will bring, but one thing is for certain, – The Real Housewives of Cape Town really knows how to remind us that no matter what city you are in, across the world, there will always be drama and loads of entertaining moments when you put a bunch of strong personalities together.
Beyond this, the ladies brought all the fashion looks to the reunion:
