Rihanna fans have patiently anticipated new music from the Barbadian singer/songwriter for about six years now, since her last single release in 2016.
Who can blame her? The woman’s busy! Between launching her high-fashion collections, lingerie line, makeup brand, and becoming a mom, who can fit in the time to record music?
Well, Riri can. In a post that went live on her socials yesterday, Riri shared a preview of her upcoming single, ‘Lift Me Up’ which forms part of the soundtrack for Marvel’s new movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Rihanna co-wrote the song with Nigerian singer/songwriter Tems alongside producers of the Marvel film.
In a press release, musician Tems says the following:
“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them.”
She continued to say: “Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor.”
According to the same press release, the artists co-wrote the single as a tribute to Chadwick Boseman, star of the first Black Panther film who passed away in 2020, at 43.
The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack is set to be released on 4 November. One week later on the 11th, the film itself and Ludwig Göransson’s original score for the film will be released.
