Queen Camilla was presented with a one-of-a-kind Barbie doll made in her likeness at the Women of the World reception at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.
The Women of the World (WOW) reception was held at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, with A-listers to the likes of Dame Helen Mirren, Dame Kelly Homes and Mel B in attendance.
Also gracing the reception was Queen Camilla herself – the president of WOW – who, at the event, was presented with a Barbie doll made in her likeness.
The similarities are striking, with the Queen’s elegant ensemble of a blue Fiona Clare dress and Amanda Wakeley coat in perfect replica on her miniature.
Whilst receiving her Barbie replica, the Queen remarked:
“Thank you very, very much indeed. It’s brilliant,” adding: You’ve taken about 50 years off my life.”
Camilla concluded by stating that all women should have their own Barbie.
Camilla isn’t the only royal to have received a Barbie made in her likeness. In 2022, Queen Elizabeth was also presented with a Barbie honouring her 96th birthday and 70 years on the throne.
The WOW event held on Tuesday was hosted by the Queen to celebrate International Women’s Day, and mark the end of the WOW Girls Festival Bus tour – which travelled across schools and communities in England to promote gender equality.
As per reports by People, the tour bus, which was sponsored by Barbie manufacturer Mattel, featured a recording studio and library.
In her speech at the reception, Queen Camilla recounted a story reaching as far back as 110 years, in May 1914, when two suffragettes broke Buckingham Palace windows by throwing stones. Remarking that at the time, Queen Mary, wife of King George V, ordered for the stones to be kept.
“I believe they represented hope to the women who threw them – hope that, in the future, they would not be victims of their history, nor of the social and economic forces that were ranged against gender equality,” said Camilla, holding up the stones. “Above all, they represented the hope that it was possible.”
