Showmax has confirmed that season 4 of the Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) is coming back to screens on 9 February. The South African shared a first look at the cast, but one face was seemingly missing: Annie Mthembu.
She quickly took to her social media to officially let the fans know that she would not be returning to RHOD. Take a look.
Annie explains
In a statement released on Instagram, Mthembu says: “Just wanted to let all the #RHODurban stans know that I have had such an incredible, life-changing experience on the show. The good, the bad and the ugly… But unfortunately, I had to sit this season out because I needed a mental health break, some time for reflection and also to focus on my businesses…”
Mthembu’s statement was perfectly paired with an array of images, the most intriguing being her posing with a pink high-heel telephone. The pose and aesthetic allude to some gossip being spilt – or rather, perhaps her controlling the narrative.
In her statement, Mthembu says that her growth “would not have been possible without this show and the amazing production [team] or the cast members who challenged [her], had [her] back and taught [her] how to accept friendship.”
Like the rest of the RHOD fans, she also can’t seem to watch the next season of the reality show. Let It Rain Films let fans know that RHOD season 4 is going to be “bigger and better.”

Let It Rain films have stated that the new cast members will “bring something different to the franchise.”
