Chef Siba Mtongana’s restaurant, Siba, has been named Africa’s Best Fine-Dining Hotel Restaurant at the 2024 World Culinary Awards.

The World Culinary Awards took place on Wednesday in Dubai, recognising excellence in the culinary industry across the world, judged by a global panel of experts.
Chef Siba Mtongana’s Cape Town-based restaurant, Siba, scooped the award for Africa’s Best Fine-Dining Hotel Restaurant, adding to a long list of culinary feats by the proudly South African female chef.

“Fam… we did it!! South Africa, we did it!! Africa, we did it,” she wrote.
“Tonight [Siba The Restaurant] was awarded Africa’s Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant 2024 in Dubai at the World Culinary Awards 2024!! Thank you so much fam for all the love and support, and thank you to the global panel of judges for the nod and the @worldculinaryawards for the incredible honour and recognition,” added Mtongana.
Siba extended her gratitude to her team and expressed the honour of representing South Africa, and the African content, on a global stage.
“Always an honour and humbling privilege to represent my country and continent on a global stage! We brought it home!”
Chef Mtongana’s influence extends far beyond South Africa. “Siba’s Table,” her cooking show, airs in over 150 countries.
NTV Kenya has named Siba as Africa’s favourite chef, while Tatler Magazine in Malaysia has recognised her as one of the world’s seven food goddesses, reports Times Live.
This latest accolade adds to Mtongana’s growing list of achievements in the global culinary scene.
