Who doesn’t love a bit of comedy as winter winds down? We’ve compiled a list of stand-up comedy shows featuring some of our favourite funny men, from SA and abroad.
Here are the stand-up comedy shows you should see this winter:
Michael Mc Intyre
One of our favourite international funny-men, Michael McIntyre is back with his hilarious on-stage antics and signature dance moves. And we can’t get enough! The big news is that you can catch this UK comic live for one night only in Cape Town and Joburg next year, on 19 and 20 January 2018 respectively. But, right now, his family comedy series Michael McIntyre’s Big Show is airing every Tuesday at 8 pm on BBC Brit, DStv channel 120. See it as a taster of what’s to come when he’s live on stage.

Trevor Noah
A national treasure indeed, this SA-born comic is doing great things the world over. We love watching his late-night comedy show, The Daily Show, on every weeknight at 9:30 pm on Comedy Central, DStv channel 122. But, you can also see him live this month at Durban’s ICC Arena with two performances on 13 August. You won’t want to miss it!

The Goliath ‘Brothers’
Even though this hilarious local pair aren’t officially related, they’ve got a talent for comedy that must be in their genes, and they’re sure to have you in stitches. They’re always busy and can be seen live at most comedy festivals. This month, Donovan is doing a two-day stint in KZN’s The Sibaya iZulu Theatre on 16 and 17 August, and his brother/best friend Jason can be seen at Gauteng’s The Lyric at Gold Reef City Casino on 18 and 19 August.

Alan Committie
Ok, so this isn’t stand-up comedy, but we just had to add it to the list! Coming up on the events calendar is his hugely successful play, The Play That Goes Wrong, which Alan directs. It’s returning to the Joburg stage after a sold-out run in Cape Town, and will be on at Pieter Toerien’s Montecasino Theatre from 22 September to 15 October. He’s also bringing his stand-up show Laughing Matters back to our stages in October.
