It’s a bit ridiculous really that three such talented, distinguished and strikingly beautiful women should appear in one film. And then, together on one red carpet, on one another’s Instagram posts and on the same couch on celebrated talk shows. Kind of gives you a pain. But, for Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie, it’s all part of promoting their new movie Bombshell. And, it’s definitely a film worth getting behind.

The plot
Bombshell is based on the true story of the Fox News scandal in 2016. At the time, Fox CEO Roger Ailes (played by John Lithgow) stepped down from his position after being accused of sexually harassing over 20 women. The list of victims includes Gretchen Carlson (Nicole Kidman) and Megyn Kelly (Charlize Theron). Margot Robbie plays Kayla Pospisil, a fictional associate producer who, apparently, takes on one of the films’ toughest scenes depicting sexual harassment.

Early Oscar buzz
After the film’s first screening in LA earlier this month, critics were already putting Bombshell performances firmly in the Oscars race. We’ll wait to see if our very own Charlize Theron could bring in her second Academy Award for Best Actress. And, according to some, Margot Robbie’s only real competition in the Supporting Actress category is herself! She starred in another box office hit, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood earlier this year and was unbelievable as Sharon Tate.
The power of three
After screening the film, the trio did a variety of press conferences and media events. And, throughout, they also posted shots of each other on their own profiles. Here are some of our favourite pictures so far…
- Settling down for an interview with the one and only Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen also mentioned that between the three actresses, they’ve raked in over $4 billion! This is a powerhouse trio if ever there was one.

With all the media coverage around the #MeToo movement and plenty of horrific cases of sexual harassment taking place right here in South Africa, we couldn’t think of a better time to get behind this film. Hopefully, it gets enough attention and causes some to sit up and take notice of the treatment women endure on a daily basis.
Bombshell hits cinemas on 24 January 2020.
