From drinking egg yolk to making homemade pineapple beer brews… there’s another bizarre lockdown trend that’s made its way to the Internet: the #pillowchallenge. Over the last few weeks, Instagram has been filled with pictures of people (and even pets) dressed in only a pillow and a belt.
Some folks have made it interesting by jazzing up their ‘pillow look’ with a pair of oversized sunglasses or statement jewellery, for instance. Others have taken the comedic route instead. Now, celebrities have also joined the #pillowchallenge brigade, and the results are truly fantastic.

Halle Berry turns her pillow into a stylish dress
Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry elevates pillow fashion in her take on the challenge. In her photo, Halle binds a dark charcoal-coloured pillow with a bedazzled black belt. She tops it off with a black hat, pumps, and sunnies. Luscious green foliage forms the backdrop of her pic. We’d rate the entire ensemble as iconic — and now we have garden envy, too!
Sarah Michelle Gellar dons her pillow dress with stilettos
Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar (or should we say, Buffy) used the #pillowchallenge as an excuse to wear heels again. Unlike Halle Berry’s charcoal pillow case, Sarah sports a white and grey animal print cover. She coupled it with a black belt and a pair of high-heel boots.

Tori Spelling’s pillow look is a nod to vintage fashion
Actress Tori Spelling switched things up by making her pillow part of an entire vintage outfit. In her Instagram post she writes, “I’m a vintage girl. So, mixed fashion with a wink to Donna Martin. How did I do?”
We absolutely adore the pink blouse and black crop top that she pairs with a white pillow. In fact, it doesn’t look like she’s wearing a pillow at all! It’s an excellent interpretation of this lockdown trend.
Tracee Ellis Ross offers a striking pillow dress debut
Actress and TV presenter Tracee Ellis Ross takes a bold, artistic approach to the challenge by wearing the pillow without any accessories. Her still facial expression, accompanied by touches of green and pink, almost turns her photo into a work of art.

Anne Hathaway is all smiles in her pillow attire
Actress Anne Hathaway offered her audience a pleasant surprise when she embodied the challenge as a royal blue butterfly. Unlike the former entries, Anne stands tall in front of two outstretched blue wings with one blue pillow and two white pillows.
It’s a creative, regal offering and we think she’d agree. In her post she wrote, “A queen is never late; everyone else is simply early.” The quote comes directly from the film The Princess Diaries in which Anne played Mia Thermopolis. This was one of her break-out roles. The pair of headphones and sunglasses she wears in the photo are a nod to the film’s poster, too.
