Pack your bags, restore your soul and let go – in 2023, we’re manifesting more travel opportunities that will bring us holistic healing. We’re calling it travel therapy.
Whether you are dreaming of relaxing poolside, sipping cocktails on a tropical island resort, backpacking through the ancient historical and cultural landmarks of the world or you’re embarking on a road trip to explore a country – traveling always helps boost the mental health.
When we take a break from our usual routine and visit someplace different – even for a short period of time, we meet new people and often get to spend quality time with ourselves or friends and family. It’s not often we get to do this, and these areas of our lives have been neglected. Travel therapy is the answer to the problem.
You don’t have to fly across the world to experience it. A simple off-the-grid weekend away could give you just what you need.
Emotional Healing
Through our daily lives, we reflect an image of strength in our work and personal responsibilities. This isn’t necessarily bad, however, we hide our feelings to portray this image.
Emotional burdens can lead to anxiety, depression and a poor quality of life. Traveling won’t make your burdens disappear but it might give inspiration and a fresh perspective on different ways to handle them.
Breathing in the air from someplace new may offer you all the space you need to tackle your emotions.
Physical Healing
Stagnation can be crippling to the body and mind. Stepping out of your comfort zone, into the outside world is a must to recharge your body.
Everyone experiences happiness while traveling because naturally, you let go of all the built-up tension in your shoulders and stiffness throughout the body. As soon as you arrive at your destination, you breathe a sigh of relief and your body is able to fully relax.
Not to mention, often when traveling you tend to walk a lot. Moving the body has many physical healing benefits.
Spiritual Healing
As much as we try to prevent busy schedules from interrupting our spiritual practices – it does. Getting back on track might take some work. Exploring historical and culture places can be healing to our spirit.
If a spiritual vacation is what you need in 2023, there are religious landmarks, holy rivers, temples, churches, pilgrimages and retreats that are considered great points to incorporate on your travels.
Often when traveling, there is more time for meditation. This is a great window to establish a connection with this habit. When we experience meditation during travel, it will filter through our lives and become a standard practice to reconnect with our spiritual selves.
Spiritual healing allows us to let go of all the toxicity inside and gives us a fresh mind full of healthy and good thoughts.
As much as it’s needed, not everyone is going to experience the entire Eat, Pray, Love journey but there will be small standout moments on your trip that will guide you onto the path of healing.
This could be through something so small like spotting a cloud in the sky or a breathtaking view of a mountain range, or eating a new dish and walking through the streets of your destination.
Whatever sparks your healing is your own truth, allow yourself to be fully immersed in it and return home safely feeling refreshed and ready to tackle what’s to come.
You know what they say: If the travel bug bites…
