With Christmas and New Year’s Eve around the corner – yes, it’s already November! – Cape Town has come alive with a wealth of festive social activities. This time of year is often referred to as ‘silly season’ – a period of two or so months when our workload and social calendars feel utterly chaotic. Since it’s difficult to keep track of everything marked on a calendar already brimming with dates to remember, we’ve compiled a list of festive events in Cape Town to help you navigate the season ahead.

1) KAMERS/Makers
After its spring run in Joburg, the popular KAMERS/Makers is showcasing their second last event of the year in Cape Town. Look out for beautiful ornaments, locally-made clothing and jewellery, as well as tasty treats while meandering from one stall to the next.

2) The Rocky Horror Show
This classic horror-musical tells the tale of college students Brad and Janet who meet a mysterious doctor by chance when their car breaks down outside his house. With sing-along music and incredible dance numbers, this classic showcase remains a not-to-be-missed experience!

3) Beer, Wine & Cheese Festival at Kelvin Grove
This annual Beer, Wine & Cheese Festival showcases over 35 wineries, a number of craft beer breweries, and a selection of locally produced meats, biltong, preserves and artisanal breads. A ticket to the festival includes a branded tasting glass, a beer tasting glass, and a lucky draw entry. There will be tastings too, so rope a few friends into joining you and make it a party!

4) Whitney Houston Tribute: The Greatest Love of All
Whitney Houston’s wonderful legacy as a prolific songstress is brought to life in this critically-acclaimed tribute concert led by SA’s own Belinda Davids. With the accompaniment of a full orchestra, choreographed dancers, and state-of-the-art sound, this musical performance is sure to be stellar.

5) The Constantia Gift Fair

Beloved SA comedian Marc Lottering is back with the sequel to his smash-hit musical Aunty Merle called Aunty Merle – It’s a Girl. For a bundle of laughs and a touching story, make sure to catch Marc in action on stage this holiday season.

7) Jazz and Classical Encounters Festival
This one-day festival will see local jazz and classical musicians take turns performing over seven hours. There will be refreshments and food available, too. Artists performing on the day include SA’s own Shane Cooper and members of the Night Light Collective.

8) Fab Ideas Christmas Fair
