The sun is out again after a long and treacherous winter and we are ready for all that summer has to offer. As the year slowly comes to an end, it’s time to kick your feet up, whip out your pinky and sip on some delicious teas paired with sweet and savoury treats, all the while enjoying the view from your favourite high tea hotspots in SA. Here are some of our favourites.
Cape Town
Executive chef Gregory Henderson has launched an afternoon tea offering at Palm House. The property is a private, serene oasis just 13 km from the city centre, boasting an escape from the busy city life. Expect an array of delights from the traditional Cape Malay bobotie, to fresh cucumber, truffle cream cheese, and smoked tuna sandwiches, wild mushroom, morogo, and tome fraiche quiche and fresh-out-of-the-oven apple and chicken pot pies. Many of the ingredients used have been foraged by Chef Gregory himself, giving you a taste of the freshest, seasonal ingredients he can get his hands on. The sweet treat component is a personal favourite – even though I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, as the selection was blissfully balanced with spiced scones, artisan lemon cheesecake delice with Cape berries, vanilla mousse and the star of the show: chocolate entrements with caramel, chocolate mousse, and triple chocolate sponge.
Price: R395 per person andincludes a speciality coffee, tea, fresh juice or a glass of cap classique

Visitors can expect an impressive premium tea offering that extends beyond 60 loose-leaf and flowering teas to wash down the delectable seasonally-changing menu that ranges from a unique bobotie sausage roll to salmon on seed loaf. End it all off with some cake and pastries while the live music sets the tone for a relaxing afternoon.
