In the clip of Chef Ramsay, who frequently participates in cycling and triathlon events such as the Ironman, says:
“This week unfortunately I had a really bad accident, and it really shook me. Honestly, I’m lucky to be here.’
Ramsay was lucky enough to escape the cycling accident without any broken bones or major injuries, with his helmet and gear softening the impact of the blow.
In the video, the chef stressed the importance of wearing a helmet when cycling or biking on the road.
“Those incredible trauma surgeons, doctors and nurses in the hospital that looked after me this week, they were amazing. But honestly, you’ve got to wear a helmet.”
“I don’t care how short the journey is, I don’t care the fact that these helmets cost money, they’re crucial. Even with the kids, on a short journey, they’ve got to wear a helmet.”
Chef Ramsay goes on to say that even though it has been a “brutal week”, he’s “sort of getting through it.”
In a photograph showing the wreckage of his accident, Ramsay’s cycling jersey can be seen ripped up, and the front of his helmet severely damaged.
