If you’re looking for something to do on the weekend, these markets are the perfect places to while away a few hours while shopping and sampling delicious food.
The Fourways Farmers’ Market
Situated across from Montecasino, the Fourways Farmers’ Market has every foodie delight you could possibly imagine, and a shady garden for you to relax in with a jam jar cocktail and snacks.
There are also stores with all sorts of crafts and the obligatory beaded goodies you’d expect. There’s also a live music area which will lull you into staying a little longer.
The market is open every Sunday from 9am-4pm. Get there early if you want to avoid the queues, and to find a good parking spot.

The Neighbourgoods Markets
Joburg and Cape Town each have their own versions of this Cape original.
The Joburg market is situated in the made-over area of Braamfontein, and has become a hot spot for Northern suburbs hipsters to hang out on the weekend. Expect everything from organic veggies to craft beers and raw chocolates. Open on Saturdays from 9am to 3pm.
The Cape Town market takes place at The Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock. There are over 100 traders to choose from so you won’t be disappointed. Open on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm.
I Heart Market
The I Heart Market is held on the first Saturday of each month at Moses Mabida Stadium in Durban.
Shop for all sorts of goodies under canopies in the sun, or take in few rays while sipping on a cold one. The market is a bit pricey, but the goods are made with love and will last a lot longer than cheap store-bought items.
