This A-list actress – and star of upcoming comedy Like A Boss (set to air early next year) – is known for her fiery personality and, of course, her luscious dark locks. At 53, Salma Hayek can probably count her grey hairs on one hand, and there’s certainly no thinning in sight. Ever wondered how she keeps her flowing tresses looking that fabulous? Well, in an interview with Buzzfeed, the sexy star spilled the beans on her secret to stunning hair… and, let’s just say, it’s pretty out-of-the-box.

Salma’s Hair Secret
According to the actress, there are a lot of great products you can use on your hair to keep it looking healthy and glossy but, she says, “they’re very stinky.” If you’re willing to look past that, there are several natural remedies for your hair. Salma says, “Anything that’s greasy is actually really good for your hair.” She recommends things like avocado, coconut oil and even egg yolks and mayonnaise. “Mayo is really good for your hair!” claims Salma. It contains ingredients like lemon, eggs and vinegar that’ll help to keep hair in good condition. And, if it’s shine you’re after, try old fashioned apple cider vinegar. “Apple cider vinegar is good for you in many ways,” says Salma. And, we believe her!

Salma’s Hair Philosophies
The actress believes in letting your hair do it’s own thing, preferring to keep her locks natural and product-free as often as possible. “My hair is curly and wild when I’m not working,” she says. Leaving hair natural helps to keep it healthy and lush. If you still want to tame frizz, reach for a rich hair oil and a hair tie – nothing more.
Salma’s also an advocate for ageing gracefully, preferring not to dye her hair. She says, “It’s my natural colour, and it’s my natural white hairs. One of the reasons I don’t dye my hair is because I don’t have the patience to sit through it. I don’t want to spend what’s left of my youth pretending I’m younger and then not enjoying life.” We love that philosophy!
