He spoke about the sad news in an interview with Stephen Grootes on 702.
The discovery was made after various tests were done. Surgery was done to remove a tumour and Xolani will start chemotherapy next week. Thereafter there may further surgery as the disease has spread to his liver.
“It’s going to be a difficult fight and a long fight, but it’s a fight I’m ready for,” he said.
Xolani spoke candidly about his diagnosis, and also discussed the importance of raising awareness about and funds for cancer research and treatment. He also thanked his wife, Peggy-Sue Khumalo, for her support.
In a touching on-air moment, Redi Thlabi called in to wish her friend and ex-colleague well.
