Elastic band chic
Take your formal office blazer and add a little ‘street-style chic’ with a rolled-up sleeve!
If your sleeves are always falling, grab an elastic band for each wrist. Place the elastic band around your wrist on top of your blazer sleeve on each side and pull your sleeves up to a desired length. The ruching with elevate your blazer for a sophisticated look. Make sure the ruching covers the elastic band!
Shoelace savvy
These bad boys aren’t only for shoes. If you’ve got a top or jersey that’s a tad too long, a shoelace is the solution.
Tie a shoelace around your jersey or top just under the breast and pull the jersey or top upwards, as if you’re creating a pocket over the shoelace lining. And just like that, you have an instant cropped effect. Make sure to create enough of a bubble to hide the shoelace, though.
Pair this with a pleated skirt or showcase that pair of jeans you’re always hiding with your longer-length tops.
Another style hack that shoelaces or ribbons come in handy for is tightening the annoying gap between the back of your jeans and your waist. Thread a shoelace through the two middle loops at the back of the jeans, pull tight and tie into a knot or bow, and voila! Remember to tuck your laces so they’re not visible. This will also create a snatched waist!
Grab a bag chain
If you don’t have a belt, just grab a bag chain. This will add a dash of flare to your look, too. When you’re using your bag chain as a belt, you can control where it sits on your body with the links and clasps. A bag chain can be worn as a high waist belt or a normal belt.
Break in a leather jacket
A new leather jacket tends to be a bit tight and stiff when you first put it on. Break it in by turning up the steam in a really hot shower. Put the jacket on and stand in the bathroom with the steam and allow the jacket to moisten up. When the leather soaks up heat, it will begin to soften and mold to your body.
