Your smart ring can track your sleep, steps, and more while doubling as a chic piece of jewellery. But daily wear means it’s bound to collect dirt, sweat, and oils.
‘There can be all sorts of things on [your smart ring],’ says Thomas Russo, professor and chief of infectious disease at the University at Buffalo in New York, as per Men’s Health.
Want to keep your smart ring polished and functional? Here’s your go-to guide for cleaning your smart ring safely.
1. Power it down (If applicable)
Some smart rings have a power-off option—check your manual to confirm. Turning it off before cleaning prevents any accidental damage. No worries if there is no power button, just proceed carefully!
2. Take it off your finger
This might sound obvious, but removing your smart ring gives you full access to clean every angle.
3. Wipe with a microfibre cloth
Grab a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth and gently buff the surface. For stubborn smudges, dampen the cloth slightly with water—never soak the ring directly. Avoid harsh cleaners like bleach, which could harm the finish or sensors. Pat it dry with a clean towel.
5. Tackle crevices with a soft brush
Smart rings often have tiny grooves where dirt hides. Use a soft, dry toothbrush or a cotton swab to gently dislodge debris. Be gentle—those sensors are sensitive!
6. Disinfect with caution
Post-workout funk? Use a close 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe for disinfecting electronics—just keep it barely damp. Test a small spot first to ensure it doesn’t affect the ring’s look.
7. Dry it thoroughly
Let your smart ring air dry completely before slipping it back on. Moisture is the enemy of tech.
