As Paris, the fashion capital of the world, kicks off with its opening ceremony of the Olympic Games this evening (Friday 26 July) at 19:30 sharp, we’re looking at some of the best uniforms we’ve seen from participating countries this year.
Here’s our pick of the top 5 uniforms at the Paris 2024 Games, ranked by country:
1. Mongolia
Mongolian couture label Michel & Amazonka is behind Team Mongolia’s striking uniform for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The uniforms were completed in just three months and feature a number of intricate embroideries with significant meanings. Birds representing freedom, mountains as a nod to the nation’s landscapes and hard work, gold and silver accents for a touch of elegance and the Mongolian national colours of blue, red and white to signal their pride and identity, writes the Olympics’ official blog.

2. Malaysia
Malaysian athletes are going to glow at the opening ceremony, sporting traditional outfits designed by Rizman Ruzaini.
The uniform, named ‘The Malaya’, features a songket-patterned Baju Kurung with a kelubung for the ladies, as well as a Baju Melayu Teluk Belanga for the men, reports The Sun.

3. Haiti
Haitian fashion designer Stella Jean collaborated with Haitian artist Philippe Dodard in designing Haiti’s spectacular uniforms.
A full skirt is paired with a chambray shirt for the females, whilst the males will sport a field jacket inspired by the Guayabera, a classic Haitian shirt.

4. Kuwait
Kuwaiti brand Muhra designed the Team Kuwait’s uniforms.
The attire feature striking royal blue thobes embellished in gold beads. As per Harper’s Bazaar, Muhra’s design was inspired by the Kuwaiti national poem ‘Memoirs of a Sailor’ by Dr Mohammad Al-Fayez. Embroidered into the thobes with golden thread, are verses from the poem, accented with shimmering gems.

5. Netherlands
European brand, The New Originals, are behind the stylish, functional design for Team Netherlands’ dancing uniforms.
The vision behind the team’s stylish garb, is “performance clothing for creatives,” says the brand.
