Reality drama lovers, gear up for this one: Netflix’s hit dating show The Ultimatum has arrived in SA! After the US version of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On was released earlier this year, the hit reality series made it to Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV list. Now, the streaming giant is in development with a South African spin on the unscripted dating show.
For those who haven’t seen it, The Ultimatum is about couples who are at a crossroads in their relationship. In order to move forward, they either need to commit to getting married, or they need to move on. The future of each relationship is tested when partners choose a new ‘potential’ lover from one of the other participating couples to go on ‘dating trial’ with. Will the original couple survive the turbulence, or will the potential for different connections be unveiled?
After the first season of The Ultimatum was released earlier this year, Netflix subsequently announced its second US instalment, Queer Love. While no release dates are set for the second US instalment, it’s still another to look out for.
There is no exact confirmed date of when the South African version of the the show will be set for the release, either. The production company working on the show has estimated a launch in 2023 on Netflix next year. Are you excited for the proudly SA version of the show to kick off?
