Over the weekend, a teaser trailer of the live-adaptation of Disney’s fan favourite The Little Mermaid was released, and it got little girls (and people like me, who never let go of their fav Disney classic) buzzing! Let’s get emotional:

Okay, okay! Enough with the teasing. Have a look for yourself:
Albeit not much, Disney still got us thrilled with the first looks into Ariel’s magical world, deep in the sea.
22-year-old Halle Bailey, best known for being one half of the musical sister duo Chloe x Halle, will be making her musical debut on the big screen next year, starring as the live-action version of everyone’s most beloved mermaid character, Ariel, in Disney’s The Little Mermaid, set to release May 26, 2023.
In a red carpet interview with Variety, Halle says:
“I’m just pinching myself! I feel out of body, in a way…seeing a character I’ve loved for so long and putting my own twist on it, I’m just so grateful to be here…”
Halle continues, “Ariel’s not afraid to show her strength and passion…she’s so headstrong and willing to go for what she wants. I think it’s more clear in this film…”
While it may be a bit of a wait until we can enjoy the adaption on the big screen – buttered popcorn, kids, and Ariel-themed attire in tow – we’ve got hopes for the big picture release, which has already drawn in over 104 million views globally.
