Since we’ve already covered must-have pantry staples when it comes to cooking Korean cuisine, we’d thought we’d also introduce you to a few of our fave Korean foods to whip up at home in autumn!
From cosy suppertime meals and healthy lunchtime nibbles to sweet afternoon snacks and creamy morning coffees, you’ll be eating well all day long! Let’s go…
For the morning…
Dalgona coffee is a South Korean whipped coffee drink that frequently pops up on our TikTok FYP.
It’s made by using a milk frother or whisk to combine instant coffee, sugar, and hot water together until it forms a thick, creamy texture. The whipped coffee is then spooned over iced milk, creating a layered effect. This is perfect if you’re looking to add a bit of jazz to your morning beverage.

For the lunch tin…
Kimbap is a popular Korean snack that makes the perfect healthy edition to a lunch tin. It’s made by rolling cooked rice, vegetables, and meat in a sheet of seaweed. The fillings can vary, but typically include vegetables, egg, and pork/seafood. The roll is then sliced into bite-sized pieces and served with dipping sauce, which is commonly made of soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Sometimes, wasabi or mustard is added to give the sauce a spicy kick.

For the sweet tooth…
Hotteok are sweet and fluffy pancakes filled with a mixture of cinnamon, brown sugar, and nuts which give them their spicy autumnal flavour. They’re easy to make and perfect for breakfast or as a sweet snack. The pillowy texture of the pancakes will make them a go-to for cosy autumn days.

For din-din
Bibimbap is a classic Korean dish that translates to “mixed rice bowl.”
It’s made by combining rice, various vegetables, meat, with a fried egg served on top. The dish is often comes with gochujang sauce (a pantry staple, in our eyes), which adds a spicy, savoury flavour to a simple but scrumptious autumn meal.

Korean rice cakes, also known as tteok, are a popular ingredient in many Korean dishes including soups, stews, and snacks. They come in various shapes and sizes and can be made from different types of rice, such as glutinous or non-glutinous rice.

One popular dish that incorporates rice cakes is tteokbokki, which is a spicy stir-fried dish made with rice cakes, fish cakes, and a sweet and spicy sauce. The rice cakes are chewy and so satisfying to eat, and an absolute staple in Korean cuisine.
