Calling all lemon lovers! Everyone’s favourite Italian chef, Gennaro Contaldo, who mentored British star chef Jamie Oliver, has released a new fabulous cookbook and this time, it’s all about celebrating the magnificent lemon. The book, Gennaro’s Limoni, boasts a bunch of vibrant Italian recipes focused on the lemon; a truly diverse ingredient that cleanses, refreshes and preserves.
If you’ve got a family member with a lemon tree you can steal from, or if you just really love lemon, this cookbook is all you need to make your zesty dreams come true. Spoiler alert: throw that lemon poppy seed muffin out of the window, because the desserts in this book are showstoppers not to be reckoned with.
Limoni boasts a wide range of recipes under separate categories, ranging from delectable small plates to Italian style veggies, fish, and meat. The real highlight of the show (any show really) is the dessert! If you’ve got a sweet tooth that loves a tang, this book is potentially dangerous for you!
Choose from small plates like mackerel and citrus fruit salad with a caper dressing, lemon infused pizza with sausage, mozzarella and rocket.
Veggies include braised lemon artichokes and the prettiest filled courgette flowers.
For the fishy fiends, there’s a linguine with pistachio pesto and tuna recipe to die for, or opt for some baked salmon steak with fennel, orange and lemon.
Desserts go from lemon sorbet, to creamy lemon cake, white chocolate and lemon mousse with raspberries and lemon tiramisu. Yes please.
What I really love about this recipe book is its simplicity. These recipes don’t include ingredients you have to search for, most are available at the grocer. They’re easy to follow, and when you’re following along, it’s almost like the sweet Genarro is there with you.
For those who are familiar with Contaldo’s food on screen, this book is a must! All recipes translate easily into the average kitchen, and you’ll be revisiting many as firm favourites!
