Here’s 4 easy steps to complete the smokey eye, day or night…
The classic way
- Draw a black, or brown pencil line along the upper lash line, and smudge it into the lashes with a sponge, cotton bud or finger.
- Draw another line underneath the lower lash line, then smudge into the lashes. Apply to the inner rim, but only with black as brown can make the rims look red.
- Blend a grey-taupe powder shadow, in a V-shape: the point should be at the outer corner, while the ends should blend into the lash line and eyelid contour.
- Use a golden highlighter to illuminate the lids or inner corners of the eye, depending on the look you’re after. Keep it light for daytime.
How to change it up:
All your application rules stay the same, but the trick is to change the colour you’re using. Instead of charcaol, greys or blacks, opt for purples, greens, blues and even nudes.
TOP TIP: For daytime stick to lighter, more natural shades, then for a night on the town, complete the look with darker hues.

If you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to complete the entire look, simply make the ends of your dark liner go up, and you’ll lift your entire face in one move. Finish the look with a single wash of slate grey shadow (we like creamy formulations) across the lids for the fastest smokey eye yet!
