What’s your secret to making your lipstick last longer? We asked, and you answered… here are the lipstick rules you swear by!
- Soften those lips!
Lipstick looks better, feels better and stays on more evenly when your lips are soft and hydrated. Make your own lip scrub with sugar, honey and lemon, then exfoliate lips with the scrub, using a soft-bristle toothbrush. After, apply your favourite lip balm to moisturise your lips – Vaseline works well. Wait for it to absorb before applying lipstick.
- Solid foundation
Brush a little foundation, or dab a little concealer over your lips before applying your lipstick. This foundation will make your lipstick stick, so it lasts longer.
- Liner base coat
A base coat of lip liner will stop your lipstick from sliding, plus it’ll boost the colour too – just make sure the liner shade matches your lipstick colour perfectly. Don’t use the liner to outline your lips – for a more natural, softer effect, rather fill in the entire lip surface with the liner, starting at the centre of the lips and moving outwards. After, apply your matching lipstick.
- Layer it up…
Layering up twice will ensure your lippie lasts longer. Apply your first layer of lipstick, and then blot over with a tissue. Next, add a light dusting of face powder, and then apply a second layer of lipstick. Once done, create a long-lasting matte effect by placing a tissue on your lips – brush on some translucent powder through the tissue.
