Ever wondered how your favourite SA celebs look so glam as they age?
Devi Sankaree Govender, Sam Cowen, Leanne Manas and Sonja Herholdt give us their top anti-ageing tips and products.
Devi Sankaree Govender, 42, Carte Blanche presenter
Top tip: Get sleep! I made that change towards the end of last year and haven’t looked back. I get 8 hours per night and no more getting into bed with… my Iaptop!
Youthful make-up trick: When I’m not shooting for Carte Blanche, I use MAC Blotting Powder, Estée Lauder mascara and a slick of lip gloss.
Beauty product you can’t live without: Nimue Eye Serum, I use it day and night.
Your hairstyle: I wear my hair the same every day, I like to keep things simple.
Hair care secret: After washing my hair I use two hair masks instead of normal conditioner. I love Kérastase Densifique for my roots and Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask on the length.
Fashion inspiration: Growing up I decided I was going to plot my own sense of style… sometimes with disastrous consequences!
Fashion rule: I will never wear big shoulder pads. Never. Ever. Again.

Sam Cowan, 43, TV and radio personality
Top tip: I’m a very low maintenance girl, so soft lighting is kind to me.
Youthful make-up trick: A little bit of blush helps you look more awake and radiant.
Beauty product you can’t live without: Brown eyeliner and lip gloss. It goes with everything.
Your hairstyle: If I’ve washed and straightened it – I consider that a win.
Hair care secret: Clinton Valjeaux from Jeauval Hair Salon. He makes sure my hair is in great shape and that the cut is low maintenance and very wash and go. He is a hair genius.
Fashion inspiration: Jenny le Roux. She runs Habits in Cape Town, and stocks it with clothes she loves. She’s always effortlessly elegant whether in jeans and a white shirt or swing parkas and silk.
Fashion rule: Never wear tapered pants. Never.

Leanne Manas, 41, SABC Morning Live presenter
Top tip: A good cleansing and moisturising routine. Television make-up is exceptionally thick and not great for your skin – so as soon as I can get it off, I do!
Youthful make-up trick: A light foundation with some mascara and shimmer, and a nude colour lip. I feel fresh and younger without make-up piled on my face.
Beauty product you can’t live without: Sensai – I have been using it for years and the entire range is perfect for me.
Your hairstyle: I either tie it up or I leave it down. I have cut it recently so it’s so much easier to leave it as is.
Hair care secret: Karen Kruger at Headmasters Corner has complete control over my hair. She decides when it needs a colour, cut, and most importantly a Brazilian Blow.
Fashion inspiration: I wear what I feel comfortable in. I love clothes and have far too many! I am a much more relaxed and casual dresser when I’m not working.
Fashion rule: If it doesn’t suit me and my body shape I will not go near it – no matter how cool or trendy it is.
Sonja Herholdt, 63, singer-songwriter and actress
Top tip: It’s what’s inside and not on top! I am beautiful, I am sexy and I am intelligent, and my voicemail tone even says, “You have a message your royal sexiness!”
Youthful make-up trick: My eyes need to be accentuated, as they are my best feature, so I prefer darker make-up in that area. I also mix my foundation to get the right skin tone.
Beauty product you can’t live without: Nimue Skin Technology’s Foundation because it doesn’t look like a mask and has amazing coverage.
Your hairstyle: I love my fluffy grey hat over my scruffy hair for a day out with the girls.
Hair care secret: Every six weeks I have highlights and a cut, to keep the body in my hair.
Fashion inspiration: My children and specifically my daughter, Claudia, who is a make-up artist and stylist.
Fashion rule: I have to feel comfortable with the style and it must suit my personality, without stopping me from being trendy.
