The Paleo diet, also known as the caveman diet, is a diet based on Palaeolithic humans. Foods included are vegetables, fruits, nuts, roots, meat, and organ meats.
While the foods which aren’t are dairy products, grains, sugar, legumes, processed oils, salt, and alcohol or coffee. In 2013, the Palaeolithic diet was Google’s most searched weight-loss method.
Pete Evans, author of The Paleo Chef, is an Australian chef and TV personality. His approach to living a Palaeolithic lifestyle is to eat whole, unprocessed foods and to look at it as a way of life, not a diet.
The dishes he prepares are worthy of being in a restaurant, but they’re effortless to prepare. The book walks you through a few key ingredients Pete uses in his recipes and how to prepare them, such as activated nuts (soaking nuts in water then drying or roasting) and how to ferment foods.
Recipes include delicious hazelnut & banana pancakes and seed and nut bread for breakie to a yummy raw courgette lasagne and a dairy and sugar-free chocolate smoothie. Click below for some of our favourites:
