We’re here to help you move into the new season with some healthy habits that you could incorporate into your daily routine. Here is a gentle reminder that will help improve your overall well-being.
1. GET SOME SUN
With the colder season setting in, it’s easy to get caught up in that warm and cozy indoor bubble. Instead of hibernating all season, try to catch a bit of sunlight during the day. Sunlight is not only our main source of vitamin D, but it also improves the way you sleep, your mood and it can lower blood pressure.
TIP Even though the sun is limited, it does not mean you should go outside without any sun protection, don’t forget your SPF!
2. LIMIT YOUR INTAKE
Many of us can’t start the day without a strong cup of coffee, and plenty of people also choose to end off each day with a glass or two of their favourite wine. While both these drinks have certain properties that are good for our health, such as antioxidants, these should be enjoyed in moderation to avoid health issues such as high blood pressure, weight gain, and heart disease.
TIP Swap coffee for green tea to wake you up in the morning and try drinking chamomile tea to wind down at night.
3. DEEP MOISTURE
Loss of moisture is especially common during the colder season. To avoid dry flaky skin, consider changing up your skincare routine and switch to moisture-filled products that hydrates and nourishes the skin. Thick moisturizers, body oils, and even body butter tend to work better during the cooler months.
TIP Make sure you drink at least 1.5ℓ of water to stay hydrated.
4. EXFOLIATE OFTEN
A really good scrub with exfoliating properties is a great product to use to feel revitalised, as it removes the build-up of dead skin cells from your body and, with them, toxins that are living on the surface. Scrubbing your skin helps it to create new, fresh skin cells for a more radiant and polished you. Exfoliating also increases the blood flow to the area, which helps to heal skin and lessen the appearance of cellulite.
TIP Make your exfoliator by adding coffee grounds or sugar to coconut or olive oil.
5.TIME OUT
Don’t forget to take the time to recharge your batteries, whether it’s binge-watching series or dedicating an hour to fitting in a good yoga session. Even catching up on sleep could be rewarding and your body will most definitely thank you later!
TIP Just three minutes of quiet meditation a day can help you to feel more grounded.
