“How about a good cup of tea?” This is a question that has been asked over centuries and is definitely still an important question asked in many homes today. Come rain or sunshine, just before dawn or as the sun is setting –there’s always a moment to enjoy a nice cup of tea! Tea is not only an enjoyable beverage, though! It also contains health benefits that will bolster your wellness. Let’s spill the tea…
1. Green Tea
Many can’t really stomach the taste, but green tea is truly one of the healthier drinks you can find. The biggest benefit you’ll get from green tea is its metabolism boosting abilities. If you’re looking to lose weight, or even just regulate and maintain your weight, this is your cup of tea.
Tip: Personally I love adding just a smidge of apple cider vinegar to my green tea. Don’t quote me on this, but I call it (whispers) ‘Gym in a cup.’
2. Jasmine Tea
Not only is ‘Jasmine’ a really beautiful name, but Jasmine tea is also an amazing choice for when things seem a little overwhelming. When you’re feeling stressed, pop the kettle on for a nice pot of Jasmine. It has great calming capabilities and comes with gorgeous floral aromas.
Tip: If your tea is slightly on the bitter side, try using fewer leaves when brewing.
3. Turmeric Tea
You may already be familiar with the golden turmeric latte. Its anti-inflammatory benefits are remarkable. To prep, once water has boiled, add turmeric and let sit for a couple of minutes. Then strain and add a touch of honey and a dash of lemon for flavour.
Tip: If you prefer milky tea, add half a cup of coconut milk.
4. Rooibos Tea
Rooibos has made its home in almost every South African kitchen, which is testament to just how much we love it. It has shown great health benefits when it comes to lowering blood pressure and relaxing the muscles. Unlike many teas, Rooibos contains no caffeine, making it the perfect tea for any hour of the day or night!
Tip: Add honey, lemon, and ginger to really get all the immune booster benefits from your cup of Rooibos.
