Would you like to live to be over 140? According to new research, people could live to be much older than the average life expectancy is now, thanks to better diets and advances in health care.
According to an article published by BBC, Dr. David McCarthy, an assistant professor at the University of Georgia, says it’s possible that men could live to be as old as 141, and women could live to over 130.
Looking at the past, in 2010, the average life expectancy reached to about 82 for women, and 78 for men. Since then, advancements in medicine and the availability of healthier foods over the years make it possible for people to live much longer.
As it stands, the oldest person ever reached the remarkable age of 122, the oldest age scientists believed people could reach, until now. Her name was Jean Louise Calment. She was a French woman who chalked her long life up to living stress-free and eating sweets – she did so up until she was 119!
So, with recent advances in medicine and diet, could it be possible for us to live to see our 140s, and what would the world possibly look like by then? It’s a funny thing to think about, how Earth will be in decades, or even a century from now. It’s even funnier to think about getting through an entire century and living to tell the tale!
Here’s to longer lives, if not for us, then for the next!
