The lockdown has many of us in SA feeling a mixture of frustration and loneliness. But three elderly women from the UK seem to have found a cure for these temperamental times… The three women, who’ve been friends for over 40 years, have gone viral after revealing how they’re self-isolating together.

In line with our #21DaysOfPositivity, we thought we’d share something heartwarming (and dare I say, inspirational?) to cut through all of the panic and moodiness.
Self-isolating Together in Style
Doreen, Dotty and Carol – all from the north of England – live alone, so they thought it would be more fun to self-isolate together as the country is forced to stay home.
The brilliant trio have known each other for more than 40 years. And all being in their 70s, they fall in the risk group who are being advised to self-isolate at home in the UK.
Giving an interview on BBC Breakfast, they explained how they picked which house they stay in. They also discussed how they’d rotate between houses depending on what they’re in the mood for. These women seem to have given self-isolating together loads of thought – and they’ve got everything planned out to prove it.
Doreen said, “We’ll have a week in our own homes in self-isolation and if we’re still fit and well then we would decide which house to go and live in.”

Binge-worthy Series and A Glass of Vino (or Two)
Two of the ladies have gardens – which will come in handy when they want a bit of exercise. But Doreen has a comfy lounge equipped with Netflix so they can watch The Crown. How lovely! If that doesn’t sound like the ideal lockdown strategy, then I don’t know what does…
Not to be outdone, the three ladies also added that plenty of wine will be added to their quarantine supplies. The three friends have seen each other through life and loss, and now they’ll be self-isolating together too. And with plenty of wine and The Crown, they’re sure to have a cheerful time.
Instead of seeing the glass as half empty, they’re filling theirs with wine and waiting out the global Covid-19 pandemic in style by self-isolating together.
