Every girl dreams of her wedding day, the perfect weather, the perfect make-up, and most importantly the ideal dress. These dreams as a little girl sometimes result in a lot of pressure as an adult in trying to achieve those expectations.
Luckily, kindness goes a long way and for Simone Crouch (née Goosen)—kindness from a woman from the other side of the world—who made Simone’s dream wedding come true.
Imagine a complete stranger from across the world slides into your DMs (Direct Messages) and asks if you would like to sell your wedding dress. Pure surprise, right? This was Emily Heath’s reaction when she was approached by Simone and asked about her wedding dress.
Crouch was completely and utterly in love with the dress when she saw images of Emily on her wedding day. All Simone wanted was to feel like a princess on her own big day and this dress was exactly what she dreamed of.
Initially, Emily’s reaction was that this was not even an option, why would she sell her dream dress? Kindness and the spirit of giving, however, came over her and she agreed to lend the dress to Simone with the agreement that it is returned in the same condition after the wedding. Her mind changed when she remembered that magical moment of her own “I do” and how she felt, walking down the aisle.
Simone’s mom lives in the UK, so the arrangement was made that the dress would be shipped there and be brought to South Africa personally by her mom.
To top off the beautiful story and to Emily’s surprise, she received an invitation to the wedding which was all the way on the other side of the world. Her first time in Africa was magical and met with so much love and many first-time experiences. Who knew just one little DM and an act of just pure kindness could create such wonderful memories?
In speaking to Woman&Home, Simone shared:
“I was overwhelmed but in all the best ways when I got the dress, it fit like a glove, no alterations needed or anything. My heart was happy.
“It was one of the best experiences having Emily and her husband Jeff come to our wedding. We got along with them so well and everyone kept referring to Jeff as Daniels long last brother as they look so alike. They truly are such wonderful people. They have invited us to stay at their house and come see Los Angeles and we will definitely go see them once we have saved enough.”

It’s safe to say with the new year just rolling in, let’s choose kindness first before completely ruling out a situation. From the Woman & Home team, congratulations to Mr & Mrs. Crouch and to Emily thank you for being such a kind soul.
