Pantone’s 2022 colour of the year was a bit of a surprise. Instead of picking a colour from Pantone’s existing 2022 collection, for the first time a colour was created solely to represent the world at the time. Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, shared: ‘Creating a new colour for the first time in the history of our Pantone Color of the Year educational colour program reflects the global innovation and transformation taking place.’ And so we were introduced to Very Peri, the newly created PANTONE 17-3938.
Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, explained that ‘Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and a dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.’ As a shade of purple, the colour of the year is created with the vivaciousness of red mixed with a rekindling gratitude for softer blues.
Of course, since the announcement, Very Peri has been popping up all over. From luxury designer-wear, linens and nails – everyone wants a piece of the trending colour. Here are seven images that have us falling in love with the hue.
Kaj Franck glassware
Let’s start with a vintage throwback to the functional arts of the 1960s and 1970s. A transitional period of its own. This gorgeous ‘Ruuturitari’ glass pitcher and set of five drinking glasses is by leading Finnish design figure, Kaj Franck.
Le Chiquito by Jacquemus
The Le Chiquito leather tote from Jacquemus is the must-have micro bag of the season. To be perfectly on trend for 2022, it now comes in Very Peri. Swoon!
Anna Brem-Wilson in her Hanza G swimsuit
The textured Square Neck Swim from UK brand Hanza G is the ultimate beach accessory for 2022.
Anemone blooms
The Anemone coronaria blooms come in various shades of purple, some mimicking a natural hue of Very Peri. If you’re looking to spark creativity and engage your imagination, a bunch of these in your home are sure to help.
A playful cake
This adorable 80s inspired cake is by Californian Shelby Eastman and sweetly ticks all the trending boxes. We know what birthday cake we want this year…
The way Blair Eadie colour blocks
Why go head-to-toe in one colour when you can colour block? As the owner of the hugely successful personal style blog Atlantic-Pacific, Blair Eadie is one of our big style inspos. We love the way she has played with the spirited feel of this River Island suit and the Very Peri shade by adding bright oranges.
