Fantastic food and wines, plus great company, awaited some of our fabulous readers at the w&h Food Meander at Eastgate Shopping Centre.
A Joburg East landmark, the mall has been the destination for shoppers in the surrounding areas for almost four decades. With over 300 stores – from high-end fashion brands to great dining options – this first-class retail centre has something for everyone, which is why it’ll play host to this gastronomic experience.
On our Food Meander, our reader were taken on a classy version of a ‘pub crawl’. But instead of smoky, dingy pubs, they dined at three superb restaurants, and there was no crawling – just a casual stroll from one spot to the next for each course.

After the main course, they gathered in the tent for the prize draws and to claim a goodie bag. Next, in even higher spirits, they ambled over to their final restaurant for the sweetest ending.
The three restaurants partaking in this event all brought something special to the table – literally! At the inviting Harpers Restaurant and Café, a variety of scrumptious meals and soothing cups of joe awaited everyone. The food at Plaka was packed with unbeatable flavours and fresh produce – plus, its azure-and-white decor made people feel as if they were in a Greek town by the sea. For hearty dishes, Primi was a must. Its menu is so diverse that a family meal here means everyone walks away content, with full bellies. These were the menus our three groups of readers could choose from and book:
