A woman has filed a lawsuit against popular hotel chain, The Hilton, after she was allegedly robbed in one of their hotel lobby in Madrid, Spain.
Jasmeet Kaur claims that men assaulted and robbed her of her personal belongings while she was staying at the hotel for business. Her concern is that women’s safety is not cared for on an international scale, and that is a significant problem.
Jasmeet Kaur filed a case in Spain on the alleged robbery and is suing the hotel group for mental trauma experienced during the incident, as well as physical injury that occurred.
According to a report by IOL, Kaur stated to the authorities that:
“The miscreants hit me, pushed me down, and took my bag inside the lobby area of the hotel. The hotel authorities did not help me. I lost all important items. Everything including my passport was stolen.”
Due to her passport allegedly being stolen, Jasmeet is claiming to have lost, and still is losing copious amounts of money because her business travel has come to a standstill, causing her to lose out on work and cancel multiple business trips.
According to IOL, Kaur shared:
“I had paid a huge amount for my stay as per the request of the hotel management. This could have been avoided if the hotel staff and management had acted swiftly.”
Kaur went on to explain how she was shocked that a luxury international hotel chain had not kept their guests’ safety, especially female guests travelling alone, at top of mind. There are allegedly no security measures put in place at the hotel, and the company did nothing about the situation to assist her.
Has the safety of women really mushroomed to international scale, and who will step up to make a difference?
