The new teaser trailer for Game of Thrones’ season 7 will have you wishing the show was back on the air.
Accidentally, Game of Thrones star Liam Cunningham revealed when winter will be returning to our screens in 2017… and it’s much later than usual.
The actor, who plays Davos Seaworth on the hit HBO show, let the month slip in an interview with the Independent:
“I’ve been disappointing various people around the world because it was meant to come out in April. It’s July now, I think. There’s going to be a launch and something special happening this year for the premiere. The bad news is, there will only be seven episodes and the final season starts again as far as I know in September.”
Now, HBO has officially (and very dramatically) released the date when GoT will return. Fans had to watch ice melt in a Facebook live video to see the date: 16/7/2017.
Until then, here’s a list of GoT-related things you can do to fill the time until season 7:
1. Read the books: there are five books so far in A Song of Fire and Ice series by George R. R. Martin. That’s 344 chapters to fill the void! You can buy the box set on Takealot.
2. Watch your favourite GoT characters in other ways: Believe it or not, your favourite actors don’t only exist in Westeros. You can catch up with Lena Headey aka Cersei in the 2016 version of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Plus, you can watch the Mother of Dragons in Me Before You starring Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen).
3. Start where it all began: It will take you roughly 60 hours to re-watch season one to six of Game of Thrones. You’ll be able to re-visit all those famous moments and epic battle scenes while keeping an eye out for foreshadowing details you may have previously overlooked.
4. Colour it in: Relieve your post-GoT stress with The Official A Game of Thrones Colouring Book: An Adult Colouring Book which can be ordered on Amazon or Book Depository.
5. Do-It-Yourself: If staying within the lines isn’t your forte, you can make a Game of Thrones mobile so your little one doesn’t feel left out. Follow Krafty Kath’s steps to see how on her website kraftykath.com.
6. Keep the Game of Thrones concert on repeat : Composer Ramin Djawadi put together a concert at Madison Square Garden that took thousands of New Yorkers through all six seasons with an orchestra and visual art. Here’s a quick glimpse of what the live concert was like…
