It was lovely to see South Africa taking centre stage at the BET Awards 2017.
The ‘Princess of Africa’, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, was honoured with Global Good Power Award by BET International. The award honours artists who have made a positive impact and raised awareness through their efforts in different parts of the globe.
South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha also stole the show joining Eva Marcille, from America’s Next Top Model, to co-host the awards.

The big winner of the night was Beyonce, receiving 4 awards – Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Viewers’ Choice Award for ‘Sorry’, Video of the Year, and Album of the Year. Unfortunately, the singer didn’t attend as she reportedly gave birth to her twins the previous week.
