Lights, camera, action – it’s the Monday after a weekend filled with fashion, and we are still coming down from that style high. South African Menswear fashion week hosted several designers who all presented their take on Spring/Summer23 and there was no thread left unturned.
People generally hear ‘Menswear’ fashion week and are surprised when designers present womenswear garments. This year was no different; womenswear stood its ground on the runway and it was also the first year so many female designers were at the top of the leaderboard.
From RuffTung, to Bernali designs, Shana & Stefania Morland, and the showstopper Laani Raani who presented not only one but two collections on the runway, the designers gave us everything we were looking for this season.
From the front row:
Sitting front row, the lights dimmed, the music slowly crept in and the screens all around lit up. This year we were treated to an intro to the designer and the collection. Shot in a documentary style, it created the foundation for a better understanding of the collection before the first model hit the catwalk.
A common theme amongst the designers was colour, colour, colour which gives us insight that colour will definitely remain very on-trend.
