Ingredients
- Madeira loaf
- 150 ml milk
- 125 g butter/margarine
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 7 ml vanilla essence
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 orange zest
- Glaze
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 2 tsp cocoa powder
- 50 ml fresh orange juice
- Orange slices for décor
Instructions
Madeira loaf
- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Grease tin loaf.
- Cream butter & sugar until light & fluffy.
- Add eggs (one at a time).
- Add zest & vanilla.
- Sift flour, baking powder .
- Fold into the butter mixture alternating with milk.
- Pour mixture into loaf tin & bake for 50-55mins or until skewer comes out clean.
- Cool on a wire rack for 10mins before removing from pan.
Glaze
- Mix all ingredients together to a pourable consistency. Do not make the mixture too runny.
- Drizzle the glaze over cooled loaf & then decorate with orange slices.
