In light of load shedding, here’s how to save energy in your home and (bonus!) reduce your electricity bill while you’re at it.
1. Light-bulb moment
Replace your bulbs wit energy-saving ones or – better yet – invest in Consol Solar Jars or pretty candles.
2. Bear the load
If you have to use your tumble dryer, clean the lint trap as often as possible to ensure that your laundry dries more effectively. Throwing in a large towel also reduces drying time.
3. Catch some rays Check the weather
forecast and plan laundry days ahead of time so you’re never left with a heap of soggy clothes on a wet day.
4. Water wise Your geyser is one
of the biggest power-guzzlers in your home, so switch it off when you go on holiday to save some money. Wrapping a blanket around your geyser will also maximise heat retention and keep your water hotter for longer.
