Tissue oil is known for its scar-eradicating benefits, but unbeknownst to me, tissue oil is a multi-purpose oil with many skin-loving attributes other than just helping you get rid of scars and stretch marks.
Here are some unknown benefits of using tissue oil:
-
Moisturised skin
Tissue oil is incredibly moisturising, especially for those stubborn areas like elbows, heels and knees. Skin experts recommend you mix a few drops into a moisturising lotion and apply it to your skin.
2. Firm skin
Apart from moisturising skin, tissue oil also has skin-firming benefits. It works as an emollient, sealing in moisture and preventing your skin from losing water and becoming dehydrated. After using tissue oil, the skin can hold water better, helping the skin appear firmer. It could also help your skin’s elasticity, which may help with ageing skin.
3. Strong nails
Many people don’t know that tissue oil is great for your hands and particularly your nails. In winter specifically, our hands can become drier than usual. Tissue oil is great for brittle nails and is also great for softening cuticles, making them easier to push back, and helping strong nail regrowth in the long run.
4. Healthy scalp
As tissue oil is so great for your skin, your scalp falls into that category too. If your scalp is dry and itchy, tissue oil could be a great solution. Add a few drops to your conditioner for a homemade deep conditioner. Wrap a towel around your head and leave it on for a few minutes, before thoroughly rinsing it out.
