Have you ever had clothing items stuck in your cart, but you’re second-guessing whether you should checkout or not because you just wish you could try on an item before hitting the “place order” button?
British retailer, Moss in collaboration with Anthropics Technology, the world leader in AI clothing software, based in the UK has come up with a virtual try-on system called Zyler that allows customers to try on clothing items without having the physical item in their possession.
Retailers like SmartBuyGlasses were the ones to introduce this technology to me a few years ago. Since designer glasses are so expensive, and shipped from abroad, the last thing I’d want upon receiving my package is the thought of returning a delivery because they’re not a fit. SmartBuyGlasses offered a virtual try-on for consumers to see what certain shapes and sizes would look like on their faces.
Now, this technology is being introduced to retailers thanks to Anthropics Technology.
How does the AI virtual try-on technology work?
Users simply need to upload a headshot, insert their measurements and in a few seconds you will see a virtual depiction of you appearing on your screen, wearing the outfit or clothing item of your choice.
The benefits of this groundbreaking technology are twofold: for consumers, you get a lifelike experience of clothing before you make a purchase; and for retailers, with the increased engagement, consumers will most likely spend more time on their websites.
Here’s what the AI virtual try-on technology would look like:
While the technology is currently only in the A/B testing phase, and only available at Moss, a UK mens formalwear retailer at the moment, it’s exciting to see what the world of AI has to offer us. While many have been afraid and sceptical of the future of AI, to see innovations such as this, tangibly come to life is truly thrilling.
As a woman who loves shopping online, this revolutionary innovation will solve many of my problems and cut down my back-and-forth with online retailers due to incorrect sizing. In the long-term, technology such as this will also have a positive impact on the environment, because the reduced returns will mean less delivery and return trips by couriers.
All in all, I’m ready for virtual try-on technology to hit SA. What about you?
