Your eyes are the windows to the soul, or at least so they say. So the last thing we want is for eyes to tell our age, or worse make us appear older. With the skin around our eyes containing the thinnest skin on our bodies, it’s important to keep it protected.
The eyes can show others when we haven’t had a good night’s rest, and in my case, since I suffer from allergies, my eyes can tell you when I’m having a flare-up, or when a skin care product or make-up is too strong, or even when you are dehydrated.
Since I’m in my early 30s and dark circles are genetic and run in my family, it’s time for me to take some precautions in order to prevent severe dark circles.
What causes dark circles around the eyes?
Various factors can cause dark circles around the eyes. Lack of sleep is a common culprit, as it can lead to poor blood circulation and blood pooling under the eyes.
As I’ve mentioned, genetics also play a role, as some people are more prone to developing dark circles due to their family history – lucky me.
Allergies, dehydration, and ageing are contributing factors, as well.
Sometimes, a combination of these factors results in those pesky dark circles.
Making sure you get enough rest, staying hydrated, and addressing any allergies or underlying health issues can help reduce the appearance of dark circles. But while we get our sleep schedules in order and hydrate every day, here are some topical solutions.
