Springbok couple Anlia and Eben Etzebeth welcomed their first child in January, marking a major milestone. This month, the happy couple – who have remained relatively under wraps in their ‘newborn bubble’ – are celebrating their first anniversary together.
In March 2022, the Springbok champion Eben Etzebeth announced his engagement to Anlia on social media, with a snap of Anlia’s sparkling diamond ring and the caption:
“Die begin van die res van ons lewe. Ek wou nog nooit so graag die ja woord gehoor het nie. Jyt my die gelukkigste mens op die planeet gemaak. (The beginning of the rest of our life. I’ve never wanted to hear the ‘yes’ word so badly. You’ve made me the happiest man on the planet).”
The couple married just under a year later in 2023, choosing the Western Cape’s scenic La Paris Estate in Franschhoek as their location to tie the knot, with close friends and loved ones in tow. Even South Africa’s reigning rugby captain Siya Kolisi and his wife Rachel attended the ceremony.
The couple enjoyed a stunning honeymoon in the island country of Maldives after exchanging their vows. After exchanging their vows, Eben went on to clench the Rugby World Cup with the Springboks. The couple revealed the news that they were expecting their first child after the victory.
On Tuesday the 16th of January, the couple’s first child – a daughter – was born. Now, one month later, the Etzebeths are celebrating one year of marriage, with a little one in tow.
The couple took to Instagram to share the celebration. Anlia shared a tribute post sharing snippets from the last year together, while Eben shared a sweet message for his wife,
