While ‘roughing it’ in the bush may add to the overall vibe of your safari adventure, there are a few beauty items that you cannot skip out on packing – for the sake of your skin and hair. Today, we’re sharing the list with you.
Here are 5 beauty items you should always pack when you’re headed for a safari:
Sunscreen
We’ve said this a thousand times, and we’ll say so a thousand more. Sunscreen is the single beauty item that you should never leave out of your routine, ever. Protection from the sun is important – especially when you’re in the bush, spending a total of 6 hours of your day in a land cruiser. The sun will hit you, and you need to be protected when it does.
Lip balm with SPF
When you’re going on two game drives (or safaris) every day, you’ll pinch yourself for forgetting your lip balm. The dry air will hit you when you’re cruising through the bush in a moving vehicle, which could result in chapped lips. Pack in your favourite lip balm or lip oil, bonus points if it contains SPF for an added layer of protection against the sun.
Mozzie repellent
For many of us, insect repellent is the last thing we’d think of when packing our cosmetic bags for a safari. However, bugs don’t play around in the bush, and sporting itchy mosquito bites is never fun.
If you’re headed to a ‘malaria area’ ensure that you receive your anti-malarial meds from a doctor beforehand, and layer up on repellent for an added seal of protection.
Facial wipes
In the bush, there are few luxuries better than wiping off your face with a fresh towel after you’ve been on safari for a few hours. Facial wipes are perfect for wiping away sweat, dust, and sunscreen residue, leaving your face feeling clean and refreshed.
Instead of opting for a disposable brand, bring one or two clean face cloths with you and rinse with warm water before applying them to your face – this will work just as well.
Toothpaste
Taking care of your pearly whites should be a part of your beauty routine. Most accommodation and lodges will provide you with soap, shampoo, etc. However, not with toothpaste. Don’t forget to pack your own – you’ll save yourself the insecurity of having bad breath or stained teeth because you left the toothpaste behind.
