In an Instagram post celebrating the win, Chef Epsey says:
“We are extremely proud of our restaurant being awarded a Green Michelin Star for 2023. We opened 8 months ago and are so grateful to all the guests who have been welcomed through our doors This has been a lifelong dream to attend the award ceremony and we are over the moon to bring this Michelin award to Falmouth and Cornwall”
“For us, there has always been a connection to nature and food. The menu is continually driven by ingredients, seasons, and nature and not the other way around. It will be through educating our guests that will help pave the way for local food heroes, sustainable farming and amazing flavours.”

Chef Epsey is one of only five South African chefs to receive a Michelin Star and the first to receive a green star for sustainability.
“As far as I know, I am the first and only South African with a green star. Sustainability has always been a big part of my menu and after 20 years of cooking, it is great to get some recognition for it.” he says, chatting to Good Things Guy.
Epsey started Culture with his wife, Petro Epsey, who is also a chef and culinary artist, just 8 months ago.

Further chatting to Good Things Guy, Chef Epsey says:
“After globetrotting experiences across the world, we have found ourselves at home in Cornwall. These experiences, working and eating, have instilled in us a passion for sharing our journey through food and wine.”
In the interview, Chef Epsey ends by sharing words of encouragement with others:
“Believe in yourself, take criticism in a constructive way, and be stubborn in your beliefs. Be humble when your dreams are realised and remember all those who were part of your journey.”
